A CHEESE industry veteran has been presented with a top national award after 30 years service.
Norman McCallum, of Hawes, who works at The Wensleydale Creamery, received the annual Nantwich Show Cheese Industry Award at the event at Dorfold Hall.
It recognises an individual who has made an ‘outstanding’ contribution to the industry.
Nigel White, secretary of the British Cheese Board, said: “Norman is well respected and liked by colleagues and customers alike, but is one to shy away from the limelight and underestimate the esteem in which he is held by his peers. He has ‘Wensleydale’ running through his veins.”
Norman started work in the industry in 1983 in various roles at Hawes, before briefly moving to Settle – and then back to Hawes after the management buyout.
