VOLUNTEERS from the villages of Yealand, Silverdale and Storth have joined forces to try to bring ‘world-beating’ fibre optic broadband to every property in their parishes that wants it.
They plan to install a ‘fibre’ link directly into the homes rather than relying on copper cables from distant roadside cabinets that are the current national plans.
The organising committee has already raised funds as part of the first phase of the plan.
The next stage is to see how many more villagers want to join a scheme that will give them a hyperfast broadband link.
Now, people who want to find out more are being invited to attend one of two public meetings on Saturday (August 2) – at Yealand Village Hall at 10am and Storth Village Hall at 2pm.
