A LAKE District family run firm now has a fistful of gold awards for being super green.
All five hotels in the portfolio of English Lakes Hotels Resorts and Venues have been recognised for sustainability.
The Waterhead Boutique Hotel in Ambleside and the Midland Hotel in Morecambe are the latest to get gold after Green Business Tourism inspections.

Matt Stanaway, Midland manager, said: “We work hard to promote sustainable tourism, so we’re especially proud that all five of our properties in Cumbria and Lancashire are accredited.”
Waterhead general manager Mark Needham added: “Our aim is to continue working constructively with our local communities and the business supply chain by making sound social and ethical choices.”
The Green Business Tourism gold standard is awarded where a strong ethos for sustainability is being achieved, backed up by examples such as the latest energy efficient measures and renewable technologies, green procurement and ethical produce.
Three of its properties are in the Lakes, one in Morecambe and one near Lancaster.
