A YOUNG couple from Birmingham were rescued from Gowbarrow Fell, Ullswater, today (Friday January 12) by members of the Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team after they had become "tired and scared" while walking in poor weather.
A spokesperson for the mountain rescue team said that the pair were following a route from a magazine that started and finished at Aira Force when they were caught up in gale force winds, poor visibility and driving rain.
They were quickly located on the fell and assisted to safety by three personnel. The spokesperson urged walkers to check the local weather forecast prior to planning their route.
