Maurice Crossley, 79, a former patient of Westmorland General Hospital, said: “It’s important because there are a lot of people who use services at Westmorland General who would struggle to travel miles away.
"We should stand up for it while we still have it. Transport is difficult to Lancaster and I don’t like driving a lot anymore so wouldn’t want to go there for treatment.
"So I would urge people to sign the coupon.”
