SHARP-EYED cyclists spotted a mispelt road sign on the A590 at the weekend.
The blunder, which identifies Grizedale as Grizeland, comes just weeks after the village of Greenodd was spelt incorrectly on two signs at the new multi-million pound roundabout.
James Hodgson was cycling with friend Phil Crellin early Sunday morning when the pair witnessed a contractor for the Highways Agency putting up the sign at the junction of the B5278.
A disbelieving Mr Hodgson, 30, of Barrow, told the Gazette: “It’s incredible that this has happened again.
“Just ten yards away there is a sign with Grizedale spelt right. You have to wonder how it has happened and how much of this is going on in Cumbria, and the country?”
A Highways Agency spokesperson said: “We are grateful that this has been brought to our attention and are currently investigating the matter.
“If it is found to be a sign on our network and our error, we will make sure it is corrected at no expense to the public purse.”
