NON-emergency calls can now be made to Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) via a new telephone number.
By dialling 0300 303 8623, residents can report non-urgent potential fire risks, find out more about home safety visits and make general enquiries about the service.
When contacting the number, available 24-hours a day, callers will be provided with the following four options:
*Press one to report a potential fire risk – this will be answered by CFRS reception staff between 8.30am and 5pm Monday to Friday and by Fire Control outside of these hours.
*Press two for home safety visit enquiries – this will be answered by the Home Accident Reduction Team during office hours and forwarded to voicemail outside of these hours.
*Press three for human resources – this will be answered by CFRS reception staff between 8.30am and 5pm Monday to Friday and forwarded to voicemail outside of these hours.
*Press four for general enquiries - this will be answered by CFRS reception staff between 8.30am and 5pm Monday to Friday and forwarded to voicemail outside of these hours.
Always dial 999 in an emergency, but for all non-emergencies, general enquiries and to report any fire risks where an emergency response is not required – 0300 303 8623 is now the number to call.
Non-urgent fire risks could include potential wildfire hazards or the unsafe storage of combustible materials.
