A FELL runner taking part in the Grasmere Gallop was helped by mountain rescuers.
The unnamed man had been taking part in the event on Saturday June 8 but suffered a lower leg injury.
12 members of Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team were called out and he was treated and evacuated to the car park, from where he was taken to hospital by family members.
The incident just before midday happened at a location described as the Hole in the wall on White Moss Common, Grasmere.
The annual Grasmere Gallop, organised by the National Trust, starts from the show field in the village and involves contestants trying a series of different races.
