My dearest cousin, the head of our generation,. At a young age, you, along with your siblings, bore responsibilities on young shoulders when your father suddenly passed away.

You were all so treasured by my parents when it seemed a family of their own would simply not happen.

You showed a genuine interest in me from birth, bringing the whole family to see the new baby.

You always dedicated time to share stories of living at Whassett Farm in your early years with my lovely Dad, and our grandparents, I will treasure those forever.

I always learnt something new from you, enjoyed your humour, appreciated your serious contemplation and respected you. As your cousin, I am not alone in these feelings.

In changing times, the world is a worse place without the presence and fortitude you showed us all.

And whilst we would like to rely on our future generations to uphold a fraction of our family values and expectations, sadly it is not a given.

Thank you for the memories, until we meet again.
