PROCTER Mabel (May) On 2nd July at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary May aged 99 years of Silver Howe Care Home and formerly of High Ridge, Kendal. Dearly loved wife of the late Thomas, mother of Alan and Bryan, a dear mother-in-law of Maureen and Bridget, a much-loved nana and great-nana. Funeral service to be held at Beetham Hall Crematorium on Friday 21st July at 12.30pm. Family flowers only. Donations if so desired to Great North Air Ambulance Service can be left at the service or made online via fishwicksfunerals.co.uk. Please wear bright clothing.Tributes

Dear Alan and Bryan
In last weeks Gazette I saw the announcement of the death of your mother at the grand old age of 99.
This news triggered happy memories that I have of your mum who I have not seen for over 30 years.
I first met your mum when I was at school with Bryan when on occasions I would visit your home at Millcrest/Summerhow. I was very much taken by your mums warm and welcoming presence and her ability to make me feel at home.
You two were not the only cyclist on journeying along Shap Road into town. I frequently saw your mum on her small wheeled bike doing the journey into the big city whatever the weather.
I recall that your mum worked at Booths on one of the food counters. It was there when I took a Saturday morning job as a schoolboy that I witnessed her kind and jolly interaction with both other staff and customers. She was an infectiously happy person to be around and a lovely lady.
Later in my 20's and 30's, your mum was someone who I regularly bumped into in Kendal. She was always interested in what I was doing and shared with me details of what her family was up to. She had a very selfless nature.
She was a great person and you must be very proud to have had her as your mum as you reflect on the many memories that you have of her.
