Death Notice

Eleanor SCOTT

Published on 22/09/2022

SCOTT Eleanor 'Ellie' On Saturday 10th September 2022 Eleanor Scott died peacefully surrounded by members of her family. Born Eleanor Nunns on 15th February 1927, she was the second child of Douglas and Margaret Nunns of Windermere, sister of Doreen and Unwin. She trained as a teacher at Didsbury College, Manchester in 1948. In 1951 she married James Royle "Paddy" Scott, also from Windermere, and together they had three children, Vivienne, James Timothy and Richard. In the 1980s she served as a District Councillor (standing for the Liberal Democrats) for South Lakeland Council, and was involved in the successful campaign to impose speed limits for motorboats on Lake Windermere, to improve safety for all Lake users. She was an enthusiastic member of Windermere Choral Society and hosted a book club in her home on Fairfield, Brantfell Rd, Bowness. In 1997, she relocated to Pocklington, Yorkshire to be near her beloved grandchildren, where she lived happily for 25 years. She will be greatly missed by her family and by all who knew her. She was a lifelong humanist and agnostic and chose not to have a funeral. Instead, her family will have a memorial for her in Pocklington later in the year. Attendance will be by invitation, but anyone interested to attend is very welcome to contact us on 07771 663724. A fuller obituary can be seen here: http://richard-scott.net/eleanor-scott-obituary/
