A DECISION on controversial plans to build 15 affordable homes at Fairbank, in Kirkby Lonsdale, has been deferred.
South Lakeland District Council's planning committee discussed the application by Home Housing for ten flats and five houses, but members decided they could not make a decision without more information about flooding on the site.
The meeting heard that Kirkby Lonsdale was in desperate need of affordable homes for local people, but that a good site was proving hard to come by. The Home Housing scheme, which includes a three-storey block of flats, has attracted 21 letters of objection complaining mostly about flooding, and the development being out of keeping with the town.
The committee decided it could not reach a decision until it had heard from the Environment Agency about flooding at the site and until it had seen a computer-generated impression of how the finished development would look.
