ONE of Britain’s most eclectic acts, Dreadzone, will play Kendal on December 10 at the end of a massive autumn UK tour.
The gig marks the last weekend of a 27-date tour for the dance band who are renowned for their powerful live shows.
Fans can expect to hear tracks from the album Eye On the Horizon, which was released in April as well as old favourites like Captain Dread and top twenty hit Little Britain from their critically-acclaimed album Second Light.
Ex Big Audio Dynamite drummer and founding member Greg ‘Dread’ Roberts said: “We’re bringing a summer sound into the freezing cold Lakes!
"We love this part of the world and the crowds are always up for it.
“We just want to make people dance and we’re coming from an angle of bass rather than drums which is a more feminine thing so we always appeal to women and men.”
Joining Greg in the five piece is bassist Leo Williams, MC Spee, Studio One vocalist Earl 16 and new members Chris Compton on guitar and Chris Oldfield on technology.
The band line-up changed in 2006 after the death of Greg’s brother Steve who had written much of the material.
“We had to rebuild the band after my brother’s death so we have new members and their influences are visible.
"With this album there’s more guitar and it’s a lot more ‘song’ orientated.
"The lyrics and the melodies ARE more of a focus for us now and on this tour you get to hear all of that,” he said.
Greg said they can’t wait to raise the roof at the Brewery, a venue they’ve played several times in their 17 year career.
“We have a good time at the Brewery, we have a lot of fans up here who can’t always get to see us in the major cities.
"We like to think we go to musically refresh the parts of the country that other bands can’t reach!”
