Believe the hype about Hype Williams – the electronica duo bringing a unique sound to Ulverston on November 26 and Salford on November 27.
Described as ‘the missing link between Ariel Pink’s Haunted Grafitti and Aphex Twin’, the London and Berlin act produce a strange hybrid of lo-fi, dub-influenced pop.
The twosome are currently touring on the strength of a limited edition LP which has caused a buzz amongst electro fans and received airplay from Radio 1’s Benji B.
And it has to be said that Hype Williams are exactly the kind of act you would expect to see at a 44 Promotions gig – in recent months the promoters have brought some brilliant acts to Cumbria and Lancashire including Zan Lyons, Lorn and F*** Buttons.
“This is our first show at the Lanternhouse since Lorn in August,” said 44 promoter Alex Oxley.
“Hype Williams walk the same musical lines as The XX and Mount Kimbie and have been picking up a lot of interest. It should be a great gig.”
* Hype Williams play at Lanternhouse, Ulverston, on Friday, November 26. Doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets £5 in advance from www.skiddle.com or £8 on the door. Then they play Islington Mill, Salford on Saturday, November 27. Doors 8pm. Tickets £5 in advance.
