FUNK and soul act The Sunburst Band will bring a fresh sound to Kendal on November 19 and Manchester on November 20.
The modern soul musos are headed by legendary UK dance producer and disco house pioneer DJ Joey Negro (Dave Lee).
The London band formed in the late 1990s, culling members from funk favourites including Incognito, Jamiroquai and the Kyoto Jazz Massive.
Guitarist Tony Remy, bassist Julian Crampton, Dave Lee on keys, Frank Tontoh on drums, percussionist Thomas Dyani and vocalist Pete Simpson released their first album in 1999.
More than a decade later they are still going strong having released a string of popular funk songs during their varied career, including Atlantic Forrest, Ease Your Mind and Garden Of Love.
The Sunburst Band experiment with disco, jazz fusion and down tempo tunes.
“This is The Sunburst Band’s first trip to Kendal. It's definitely a departure from the usual thing we get up to at Bootleggers,” said Tom Powney, of Bootleggers.
* The Sunburst Band, Bootleggers, Kendal, Friday, November 19. Doors 7.30pm. Tickets £8.50 advance from the bar or £10 on the door. Free entry after 10.15pm. Then Band On The Wall, Manchester, Saturday, November 20. 9pm. Tickets £15.
