RADIO 2 DJ Mark Radcliffe and his band Family Mahone return to their spiritual home, the Brewery, for some folk-fuelled mayhem tonight (Friday).
Following their last encounters with the Kendal masses in 2004 at the town's Kirkland Festival, and their riotous gig at the Brewery back in 2003, the band this time play the Malt Room.
Describing themselves as "like The Pogues, but with more laughs and less talent", Family Mahone plan to get crowds drunk and swaying with drinking songs from England, Ireland and Scotland.
Their singer, Radio 2's Mark Radcliffe, is no stranger to the stage. His previous musical incarnations include spoofters The Shirehorses. An outfit with an equine slant that made a mockery of most bands Travis's Why Does It Always Rain On Me? became Why Is It Always Dairy Lea? and Baby Bird's You're Gorgeous became a less flattering, You're Gormless.
In their short life span, The Shirehorses packed two albums under their saddles, opened for a very rainy Glastonbury and took their We Came, We Saw, We Cantered' tour to student unions across the land.
Speaking before his Brewery performance, Mr Radcliffe, who has just launched his new novel Northern Sky, said he was looking forward to his Lake District date.
"The Brewery is genuinely one of our favourite venues and we always look forward to a rollicking good night."
Doors open at 8.30pm. To book tickets, call the Box Office on 01539-725133.
