IRENE O'Dare helps her widowed mother at a little music shop in New York City.

She's not unhappy but feels there must be more to life than working downtown Ninth Avenue.

Irene aims at being a successful businesswoman and a job tuning a piano at a swanky Long Island house brings her face to face with young tycoon Donald Marshall.

It is a meeting that sends the life of the charming Irish lass spinning into a new direction.

Grange and District Amateur Operatic Society stages the musical Irene at the Victoria Hall from Tuesday (March 1) until Saturday, March 5.

With music and lyrics by Harry Tierney and Joseph McCarthy, it is laced with some of the most singable tunes in the history of musical theatre, such as You Made Me Love You.

It promises to be, yet again, another stylish and sparkling show from producer Christine Bell and her Grange entertainers.

Performances start at 7.30pm plus a Saturday 2.30pm matinee.

Tickets are available from Butterfingers; telephone bookings on 015395-34098.
