SKA seven-piece The Beat head for the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal this month.
The band, who were at the forefront of the British Ska revival and hit the charts in the late 70s with their rendition of the Smokey Robinson classic Tears of a Clown and later with Mirror in the Bathroom, play on January 28.
The Beat are Ranking Roger, vocals; Everett Morton, drums; Saxa, saxophone; Blockhead, keyboards; Neil Deathridge, guitar; Tony O'Donnell, vocals; and Andy Pearson, bass.
With a politically radical agenda born of their experiences of growing up in Birmingham during the seventies and early eighties and an authentic up-beat ska sound, The Beat managed to maintain their credibility with the hard-core fans.
After a decade apart, the band have reformed and are back on the road again performing a storming set of early classics and new material that spells another riotous ska night at The Brewery.
It all begins at 8.30pm. To book tickets, call the Box Office on 01539-725133.
