A DANCE night which has been serving up sizeable talent from the urban music scene brings Sean Paul's after show DJ to Kendal.
David Craig, definitely not to be confused with Craig David, heads for Mint Saturday night courtesy of the Block Party.
Bogling may seem out of keeping for a town raised on mint cake and soft rock but the man behind the popular Block Party nights, Windermere's Clyde Mason aka DJ Bligeness, believes now is the time.
"David Craig is without a doubt the biggest name we have had from the urban music scene and the first time the area has seen an R'n'B DJ of his pedigree," he said. "It's going to be a good night."
As well as being privy to some very sweaty dancehall action as Sean Paul's after party DJ, David Craig also does the MTV Lick parties along with the likes of Trevor Nelson, DJ Dodge and Hanif and is a regular at the Booti Call night in Athens.
However, the snaring of this talent is all down to hardworking Block Party man Clyde who, over the past three years, has built his night up to be one of the most popular and respected.
He has just landed himself a weekly Saturday night slot at Mint and brings David Craig to the fore as part of a plan to bring in guest DJs every fortnight.
His Block Party night has also not escaped attention on the national urban music scene. Pete Haigh and Mark Delvin of Blues and Soul Magazine, who have both guested at the Block Party, have been so impressed they have given the night countless column inches normally occupied by the likes of Ministry of Sound and Twice Ez Nice.
"I believe I have firmly established the Block Party night on the current urban music scene and our current DJs are evidence.
"It's good to have people behind you, supporting the night and wanting it to be successful like Mint and it's all starting to pay off."
Future acts include Mark Delvin, DJ Redlocz + Original Killa (Full Flava), DJ Mag (Galaxy FM), DJ Syzemik (Twice Ez Nice). Block Party kicks off at 9.30pm until 2am.
