THE excellent Steinway Suppers series continues at the Brewery Arts Centre on Wednesday (October 20, 8pm) with celebrated harpist Catrin Finch.

With a string of TV and radio appearances and prizes to her name, Catrin was also appointed Royal harpist to Prince Charles in 2000 after she played at his 50th birthday party at Buckingham Palace.

Another class act performing at the Kendal arts centre soon is 16-year-old flautist Benjamin MacDougall.

Hailing from Eden's Maulds Meaburn, the young musician is regarded as one of the most exciting and promising flute players the UK has produced and first performed at the Brewery when he was ten.

Brenda Blewett joins him on piano on Tuesday, October 26 (8pm) in a fund-raiser for the Furness Oncology Unit Appeal, which aims to build a dedicated cancer facility for Furness and South Lakeland.

Tickets for Benjamin's concert are £10 and Catrin's £9.50 / concessions £8.50.

Both are available at the Brewery box office on 01539-725133.

A COME and sing' performance of Handel's Messiah is staged tomorrow (Saturday, 7.30pm) at St Mary's Parish Church, Dalton-in-Furness, as a fund-raiser for the Romney Arts Centre project. Rehearsals start at 2.30pm until 6pm with a break in between. Singers should turn up with a copy of the Messiah, preferably the Watkins Shaw edition. Soloists include Anastasia Micklethwaite with Adrian Self on the organ. Anthony Milledge conducts.
