ARMED with new recordings, alt-country rockers The Wisemen are about to unleash their acoustic anthology.
The Lancaster trio are set to release the 26-track anthology, which includes their very latest recordings, in two weeks time. The band also have several South Lakeland gigs lined up next month with support from Five Divinity Avenue as well as putting in an appearance at renowned Islington venue the Hope and Anchor.
The Wisemen are Richard Turner, Scott Morley and latest recruit drummer Gully Brodbech. Strange Americana and Bluesy folk rock are a couple of the tags that have bee pinned on the band who prefer to describe their sound succinctly as, "folk-rock, alt country, country-rock, psychedelicrock, soul-rock, blues-rock and rocks that don't yet have names!"
The anthology will include both the band's EPs and both mini-albums.
The band, who have gained a devoted following, also saw their debut EP dubbed "indie record of the week" at Manchester's Piccadilly Records.
The trio quote Hank Williams and Johnny Cash among their influences and are keeping their fingers crossed that they will be featuring on a split single put out by Liverpool's Regular Beat Recordings early next year.
