OXEN Park Cinema Club has received a financial boost to help improve its equipment.
The club, which holds a monthly film show in village halls in South Lakeland, has made a successful application to the UK Film Council for a grant from its New Digital Fund.
The film council is encouraging greater access to cinema through offering grants to film societies for digital equipment.
The Oxen Park club relied on borrowed equipment until early 2004 when The Hadfield Trust gave a grant for a new digital projector.
Now the remainder of the equipment needed will be able to be bought to increase the quality of the village hall cinema experience.
The club believes a new screen, amplifier and sound system will establish it as one of the best equipped mobile film societies in Cumbria.
The new equipment will also be good enough to be used in the proposed Carthouse Village Cinema. The club is still working to gain funding for the restoration and conversion of the old brewery store house in Oxen Park.
