MINT is shaking up its music nights. The Kendal caf bar will be serving up regular resident nights so punters know what sounds to expect with their pint.
Friday nights will bring guest DJs and live music including monthly nights featuring bands which have been hand-picked by Kendal music shop Circa Records. Saturday's upstairs will spell urban night and the bar's most popular night Bloc Party with R n' B, hip hop and dancehall. Meanwhile, downstairs, Kendal collective FUNKTION will take over each Friday night with Tom Townley sharing alternate Fridays with Gaz Dawson and Luke Channon. Mint man CJ Nelson told OTR: "From the start of October we decided we wanted more set nights," he said. "Certain crowds want a certain kind of music and that's what we're trying to do with regular nights upstairs and keeping things a bit more varied downstairs so it's more like city bars." Tonight (Friday) brings Mint regular Krysko as part of the album tour for the Tribal Gathering tenth anniversary CD, which he mixed with Greg Vickers.
l Mint is now open until 1am on Thursday and 12.30am on Sunday.
