ANCIENT and Modern is the theme for Lonsdale Music's next concert at Kendal Parish Church tomorrow night (Saturday, 7.30pm) featuring Baroque concertos by Vivaldi, Bach, Handel, Torelli and Telemann, plus new works for recorders and strings. With the accomplished players of Lonsdale Chamber Orchestra performing, the Baroque items will be directed by distinguished violinist and Baroque specialist Duncan Druce and include two trumpet concertos performed by brilliant young trumpeter Mark Allen recently appointed co-principal of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
The new works are courtesy of highly respected composers Wilfred Mellers, John Gardner and Francis Jackson and were specifically written for John Turner, a leading recorder soloist, who will be on hand to play the pieces in what promises to be an exciting and memorable concert.
Well-known conductor and instru-mentalist Roger Cann also conducts. Tickets are £10/ students £5, available at the door or from Lonsdale Music on 015242-72694.
