ART workshops in Ambleside have proved so popular that they will be extended into October. Skelwith Caravan Park has two artists in residence Julie Dumbarton and Barry Midgley and they have found the success of the workshops astounding. Mr Midgley, who held a sculpture workshop in August, said: "The enthusiasm and ideas people bring to the workshops are a credit to the setting here at Skelwith."

Ms Dumbarton has been painting Cumbrian landscapes for a number of years and will be hosting a painting weekend on October 16-17. Skelwith Fold owners Syd and Henry Wild say this continued link between conservation and art is an example of the Skelwith Fold ethos: "With over 130 acres of woodland, a varied habitat, an array of wildlife and some of the most spectacular views in the Lake District, Skelwith Fold provides masses of inspiration for potential artists," said Mr Wild.
