DON'T be misled by the name as Kirkby Stephen band Silence do anything but what the title suggests.
The teenage metal trio have just cut their first album and have plans to make waves on the music scene.
The band, who are Christian Winstanley, 15, vocals; Conor Cannon, 14, on guitar; and Jake Dakin, 15, on drums, have sent their album off to "see if we can get anywhere."
The trio, who say they are influenced by American band Kill Switch Engage and Shadows Fall, have gigged in Barrow, Brough, Kirkby Stephen and Kendal.
The band, who recorded their debut in Millom, are hoping to bring something different to the local music scene.
"We want to have a different impact on the music scene in Cumbria," explained singer and guitarist Christian. "We've seen lots of bands but it seems they need something different. Our main aim is to give people different options, so they can hear something different. Hopefully it will get us somewhere."
The group, who write all their own stuff, formed from the ashes of several different line-ups.
"Originally me and Jake were in a mess around band when we were about 12 you can imagine what our music was like," said Christian. "We fell out with lots of different people but eventually we got it together and got Conor in the band."
Now, with their sound honed and their first album under their school belts, Silence are hoping to make some noise.
