FLEDGLING music festival Papfest has been branded a winner as tickets sold out and talent scouts were rumoured to be skulking in the shadows.

The 16-strong line-up saw all but two of the gig's 300 tickets snapped up as bands took over Kendal Rugby Club for the all-dayer last week.

Rumours were rife that scouts from labels including EMI and Island were sizing up the South Lakeland music talent.

"It was hard work, but we got through it," said organiser Dave Armstrong. "It was a great day but the biggest thrill was seeing the Cornwall band Prime Scandal go down so well."
