ARMED with a 17-strong line-up, a fledgling mini music festival prepares to begin its assault on South Lakeland next week.
Many months in the making, Papfest comes to Kendal Rugby Club next Wednesday (August 25) showcasing local and not so local music talent.
With a line-up featuring indie-rock to reggae the event includes an outdoor busking stage, local band merchandise, stalls, stands and a skanking contest.
Brainchild of Dave Armstrong man behind local music scene website Papscene the line-up is: Headliners Cornish ska band Prime Skandal, Big Green Blue, Mental Note and 5 Divinity Avenue (Kendal), Nana's Revenge (Furness), Call of Duty (Arnside), ctrlaltdelete (Carlisle), Tauntra and Snooky (Anan), The Dead Generation (Lancaster), Failsafe (formerly known as Duckhunt), Shoesonbackwards, Harry and the Challenged, Three Quarters (Blackpool), 5000BC, Allegiance Free and Volantis.
The 18-year-old, who said he's had a phone wedged between his ear and shoulder for the past few weeks, said tickets for the all-dayer were being snapped up.
"Tickets have been selling really well," he said. "We've got about 40 of the 200 left and there should still be some available on the door. I've had a lot of help from Exile and Circa and word seems to have got round. "
As the music man prepares to transform the sports haunt into a mini music festival, he said he was confident of success.
"As long as the sun shines it'll be a really good day," he said.
Day passes cost £8 and are on sale at Circa Records and Exile Tattoo in Kendal.
PAPFEST runs from 1pm until late. For more details, log on to www.papscene.com
