A NEW season of Camerata at the Coro concerts starts with The Great Masters on October 14, featuring top pianist Martin Roscoe performing and directing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No 2 as well as Haydn's Symphony No 83 Le Poule and Mozart's Symphony No 29.

Ulverston-based Martin was on hand for the photocall at the Coronation Hall to get ticket sales off to a flying start and said he was looking forward to opening the new Camerata series at the Coro, particularly performing such exciting works closer to home.

Other dates in the series include: December 9, Festive Fanfare; February 3, Pastoral Portrait; and The Brilliance of Bach, on March 24.

There will also be a special New Year Viennese Gala concert when Manchester Camerata repeats its New Year's Day Bridgewater Hall programme at the Ulverston venue.

South Lakeland District Council arts and events officer Imelda Winters Lewis said she's thrilled that the Arts Council England, North West has financially supported the series, now in its second season, and SLDC has introduced special low cost ticket prices to try to encourage young people and families to attend the concerts.

She added: "It will hopefully also encourage those students participating in the accompanying education workshops to experience live performance by one of the best chamber orchestras in the country."

Ticket prices range from £13 to £18 for the series with concessions available. There is a special discounted ticket price for children and young people of £3 for five to 11 years; £4 for 12-16 years and £5 for 17-18 years, available for all the concerts.

Tickets for the Viennese Gala are £20, £18 and £16 with the same concessions available.
