PENRITH band Samsa have received their first taste of national airplay courtesy of veteran radio DJ John Peel.
The trio of twenty-somethings - vocalist and guitarist Oli Deakin, drummer and vocalist James Deakin and bassist Harry Wood - heard their debut single Quiet Places played on Radio One.
The band, who are now based in Leeds, released their album Working on the Inside to critical acclaim in 2002.
The group also earned themselves a place in Leeds Bright Young Things in 2003 and were among Radio One's unsigned shortlist in July.
With their album now in its third print run, the band have been playing regularly in Leeds and have done several short tours around the UK.
