VOICES Raised is the latest choral venture from the vocal partnership of Cumbria Choral Initiative and Kendal's Brewery Arts Centre with a view of encouraging youngsters to get involved in choral singing.
It offers the opportunity for young singers to perform the large (and noisy) Carmina Burana choral work alongside adult singers of the New Millennium Chorus on June 26 (7.30pm), at Kendal's Westmorland Hall.
Vocal workshops have also been staged as part of the forward-thinking Voices Raised project in the Brewery's Malt Room, including folk, world, and Gospel singing. The next one covers music theatre on June 10 led by well-known music theatre coach, Lin Marsh.
And Lin will return on June 24 (9am-5.30pm) to stage workshops for those performing Carl Orff's Carmina Burana.
Another Voices Raised event is on Sunday, June 27 (7pm), when the National Youth Chamber Choir, Laudibus, directed by Michael Brewer, lift up their voices at Kendal United Reformed Church.
As a curtain raiser for the weekend, acclaimed Gospel choir leader Ken Burton will lead a workshop on Wednesday, June 23 (7.30pm).
Meanwhile, young singers interested in joining Voices Raised can complete an application form available from the Brewery or school music departments, or contact Ian Jones on 01539-720168.
Tickets for both concerts available from the Brewery box office on 01539-725133.
