Pinfold Gallery has opened its doors to a dynamic new show featuring five fabulous artists.
In the frame at the Bowness arthouse are the works of Martin Greenland, Tiana Marie, Susan Glassford, Clare Money and Robert Newton, all fine proponents of colour, texture and light.
Martin Greenland's love of architecture and landscape shines through his work, especially the stunning Days of Wentworth Green, one of the stars of the Pinfold exhibition, which runs until July 5.
One of the region's leading artists, Martin is also artist-in-residence at Miller Howe and will be soon running classes at the Windermere hotel.
This is the first exhibition for Martin since his successful trip to London, unveiling his oil painting of Paternoster Square, a prestigious commission from property developers Mitsubishi Estates Company which was presented to the Lord Mayor of London. No doubt a career highlight for the Windermere-based artist.
Tiana Marie is Kendal based and best known for her spectacular paintings exploring light and nature's elemental power.
Influenced by John Ruskin's philosophy and Turner's passion for light, her paintings capture the spirit of place, and there is an internal elevation and expansion which she describes as "a yearning for infinity".
Tiana's work has been published as limited edition prints and gift cards, and on book covers and CDs.
Her work is held in art collections as far apart as the United States and Japan and she also works with individuals and groups to help develop their artistic talents in workshops, courses and art holidays.
Susan Glassford is a painter-printmaker, who lives and works at Meadowbank Farm Studio at Curthwaite, near Wigton.
Her work is influenced by the landscape, particularly the northern fells and colourful panoramas of foreign climes.
Clare Money is also fired up by the landscape and, since graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in 1992, has captured scenes from all over the country, including the chalk cliffs of Kent, weather-worn and rugged rocky outcrops of the Peak District and Lakeland hills and valleys. Creating extremely evocative work, her focus for the past few years has been the ever-changing light and moods of the North East coast.
Meanwhile, Northumberland artist Robert Newton responds to his surroundings and provides a blast of colour.
His work explores colour composition and expression, drawing upon his intuition as well as a time-honoured approach to painting landscapes and nature.
Pinfold is situated opposite The Royalty cinema, on Lake Road, and open Thursday-Monday 11am-5pm. For further details contact 015394-42929.
