ARTIST Stella Vine has received a fair bit of publicity over recent times for her New Blood, New Artists, New Acquisitions exhibition, at Charles Saatchi's London gallery.
Apparently, the painting that attracted most attention was a crude portrait of Princess Diana, bearing the words Hi Paul can you come over, I'm really frightened'. Inspired by a letter from the Princess to the former royal butler Paul Burrell, Vine reputedly painted the work in 15 minutes.
Lancaster's Storey Gallery has been loaned two of the London artist's other paintings by a local and anonymous collector. The painting shows The Boys (William and Harry) and it shows alongside the Dogspace exhibition by the Spacecadets at the Meeting House Lane gallery until May 29.
The artist has gone on record as describing her paintings as deliberately bad'. She said she could paint much more realistically and more photographically, but found it more interesting to make her work less perfect.
The Storey Gallery is open 10am-4pm Monday-Saturday, but is closed for bank holidays. For further details, contact 01524-844133.
