WYNFORD Evans is back in Arnside this weekend for a roof-raising concert as well as sharing a few helpful hints with aspiring singers.
The mouth-watering prospect of the eminent, internationally-renowned tenor and soprano Tracie Penwarden returning to lead a glittering line-up of soloists for the second Arnside and Milnthorpe Music Festival has to be a crowd-puller.
The festival begins with Wynford holding two master classes tomorrow (Saturday, 10am and 2pm) in St Thomas's Church, Milnthorpe, and on Monday at the same venue Tracie brings proceedings to a splendid conclusion with a recital I Hate Music! But I Like to Sing! accompanied by Glyn Hopkins on the piano.
The biggie' though is on Sunday.
Under the acclaimed musical direction of Glyn Hopkins, Wynford and Tracie are joined for the choral concert at St James's Church (3pm) by two of South Lakeland's most popular voices - contralto Janet Hoyle and bass Brian Lancaster.
Last, and certainly not least, powering the evening's mighty performance of Haydn's Heiligmesse and Faure's Requiem will be Arnside Choral Society.
Michael English accompanies on organ.
Local singers interested in attending Wynford's master classes should contact choral society secretary Hilary Wilson on 01524-761309.
Tickets for the Saturday concert, and Tracie's recital, are £6 each (£10 for both) and are available from Jean Hinchliffe on 01524-761552 or Kath Singleton on 015395-62221.
