CITED by dozens of modern acts as one of the most influential bands of the past 40 years, The Zombies have amassed a great horde of fans over the years.

The 60s band - famous for their cool, blues-laden songs She’s Not There and Time of the Season - will make a rare appearance in Kendal when they play at The Brewery on Wednesday, October 28.

Fleet Foxes, the Arctic Monkeys, Paul Weller, Super Furry Animals, Billy Joel and Courtney Love have all cited The Zombies as an influence.

The band recently enjoyed a ressurgance, selling out shows at London's Shepherds Bush Empire and winning a Classic Album Award at the 2009 MOJO Honours List.

Founding member Rod Argent said: "I'm thrilled that we've received this award for Odessey and Oracle. It's so gratifying that 42 years after we made the album it should still seem so relevant to so many contemporary artists. Just at the ceremony, Paul Weller commented that it was his favourite album, and the Fleet Foxes said to us how inspirational they had found it."

Much copied and covered but never bettered, this gig looks set to be unmissable as members Colin Blunstone, Rod Argent, Jim Rodford, Keith Airey and Steve Rodford play their classic hits.

Tickets cost £15 available from: 01539-725133 or: www.breweryarts.co.uk.
