DIEHARD fans of Bob Dylan have a treat in store tonight (Friday) when The Dylan Project play at Kendal's Brewery Arts Centre.
The band is made up of four talented folk musicians Gerry Conway (Alexis Korner, Cat Stevens), Simon Nichol (Fairport Convention), Dave Pegg (Fairport Convention) and PJ Wright (Little Johnny England) along with singer Steve Gibbons of the Steve Gibbons Band.
Members of the band bring their own distinctive take on the music of the master songwriter and performer, their repertoire spanning everything from Highway 61 to Mississippi.
Tomorrow (Saturday), the Arts Centre plays host to songwriter/performer Hamish Stuart along with Brazilian percussionist Bosco De Oliveira.
Born in Glasgow, Stuart shot to fame as the falsetto voice of the Average White Band, his distinctive song writing and guitar style paving the way for the band's worldwide success.
After the band split he toured with Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, George Benson and Chaka Khan for whom he wrote the number one chart hit Whatcha Gonna Do For Me? In 1998 Paul McCartney asked Hamish to join his band and he went on tour and recorded with the beknighted Beatle for six years.
Saturday night's band has a Brazilian slant with the introduction of Bosco De Oliveira with Ralph Salmins on drums, Steve Pearce on bass, Robin Aspland on keyboards and Hamish on guitar and vocals.
