THESE days just mention the name Fiona Clucas and you're pretty sure of attracting a fair few art lovers through your gallery doors. Such is her reputation.
Renowned for her bird life images she's also highly regarded for capturing the light and texture, soft tones and hues where land and sea meet amid flowing patterns of Morecambe Bay.
However, until December 22, Fiona is exhibiting new work in Homeground, at Pinfold Gallery, Bowness.
Gallery owner Yvonne Jones says the new work is stunning, a fresh departure for Fiona featuring country gardens, trees, birds and grasses near to Fiona's home. Although the subject matter has changed, Fiona's hallmark texture, layering and mix of shadow and light remains.
Fiona's latest show is a family affair as the popular artist teams up with husband Brian Fereday.
As a full-time forester at Sizergh estate, Brian is perfectly placed to observe nature and the elements, which inspire and influence his work created in acrylics and pastels. He tells me the real task is to express how deeply he really feels when engaging with the natural world.
A Green Door Studios associate member since 1998, the initial encouragement to paint came from painting courses run by former Kendal artist Judith Lassen Coops.
Pinfold Gallery is off Lake Road, opposite The Royalty cinema.
Open Thursday to Monday 10am-5pm, 11am-5pm Sundays. For further details contact 015394-42929.
