[] TWO major concerts by Casterton Choral Society and Orchestra are staged at Lancaster Town Hall’s Ashton Hall venue on Sunday and Monday, December 7/8 (7.30pm). Part of the programme includes the premiere of Prince of Peace - by influential string coach and one of the region’s leading musicians and composers Roland Fudge. Roland also leads the orchestra for both concerts, which feature Karl Jenkins’s classical chart topper The Armed Man (A Mass for Peace). Ranked number 24 in the Classic FM Hall of Fame, it is one of the most popular choral works of recent times. Director of Music at Casterton School David Chapman conducts.

[] THE Bay Potters always come up with a cracking Christmas show and this year’s event at The Athenaeum, Leasgill (near Heversham), on Sunday (10am-4pm) should be no exception. One of the UK’s top makers of tile murals Maggie Berkowitz will be exhibiting as will other leading potters from the regions such as John Calver, Hans Ulrich, Bryan Trueman, the Eden’s - Victoria and Michael – John Kershaw, and Libby and Nigel Edmondson.
[] BRANTWOOD continues its series of drawing room recitals with the Knox Trio of violin, cello and piano tomorrow (Saturday, 7pm). Music includes Haydn, Brahms and Joan Trimble. Tickets for the Coniston event cost £11 and include wine and canapés. They are available by calling 015394-41396.
[] SNOW White and the Seven Dwarfs spring into action courtesy of the Youth Of Grange and District Amateur Operatic Society (and friends) at the Victoria Hall, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, December 4/5/6 (7.30pm) plus 2.30pm matinee on the Saturday. Samantha Grundy plays Snow White and heads a talented cast of young actors in a fun-filled pantomime. Tickets are £5 adults/ £3 children and available at Grange Library or on 015395-35707.
[] DVORAK’S Mass in D featuring organist Ian Pattinson, together with a selection of Christmas music, is the festive offering from Eversley Choral Union on Wednesday, December 10, at Holy Trinity Church, Bolton-le-Sands, and Monday, December 15, at St Thomas’s Church, Milnthorpe. Both performances of Music at Christmas start at 7.30pm and are conducted by Stephen Carleston. Tickets are £5, available from choir members or at the door.
[] PENNINGTON Drama Group teams up with Ulverston Writers to present ‘radio’ style short plays at the Coronation Hall on Thursday, December 4 (7.30pm). Penned by the writers group, the actors will perform ten plays in the hall’s supper room, reading their lines direct into a 1950s look alike microphone.
