AFTER two live music events, the Canteen's cherry on the icing on the cake comes on Saturday with three seriously hot musical contenders rolling into town.

Headliners Gabrielle's Wish arrive from Manchester as part of the band's current UK tour with a CV that reads like a who's who'of the Manchstr music scene.

Formed in Clayton, Manchester in 1992, Gabrielles Wish went through various line up changes before cementing the classic line up of Rob Corless (Vocals), Nick Harris (Drums), Paul Ryan (Guitar), Darren Moran (Bass), and David Peplow deploying sound effects.

The band went on to support THE FALL and gained the attention of NEW ORDERS manager Rob Gretton, who signed Gabrielles Wish to his own 'Manchester Records' label. Gabrielles Wish then supported NEW ORDER at their July 1998 comeback gig. The following year manager Rob Gretton sadly passed away. 1999 also saw the release of the 'Surface' EP. Shortly after, the band changed drummers, bringing in Bo Walsh (younger brother of guitarist Timmy Walsh of FACTORY band NORTHSIDE).

In 2001 the band brought out the 'Manchester Suite' EP, which veered strongly toward Electronica in sound, mainly due to drummer Bo Walsh being on tour with TRAVIS during the recording sessions. At this time Jeff Grainger became the bands new manager. The 'Cost One' EP soon followed released on the bands own label 'Path'. The stunning album 'Portal' emerged in 2003 before the band briefly split up. Gabrielles Wish reformed in 2004, playing a secret gig with new member Karen Leatham on Keyboards. The 'Here from the neck down' EP was then released. Recently the band have brought out the brilliant studio album 'Reformer' (out now on the Small Adjustments label), supported by some blistering live shows.

Support comes from screamo favourites My Passion. Headliners in their own right this band should appease the local music scene's love of pretty boys in tight pants with eyeliner and bouffanted hairdos belting out gothic emo-astic original tunes.

Check out all of the above bands on myspace or through links at the Canteen's own site www.myspace.com/thecanteenmaac for a taste of whats on offer.

Support on the night comees form Windermere's own rising indie stars Captian Stogie. Described as the Lakes answer to the Libertines, these boys look and sound great. It should be another famous weekend at the venue!

All events are payable on the door with entry tonight and Friday just £3 and Saturday a meager £4.
