GRASMERE Players bring the adventures of messrs Mole, Rat and Toad to Grasmere Hall in Alan Bennett’s adaptation of the Wind in the Willows.
Running from Thursday until Saturday, December 13-15, (with a 2.30pm matinee on Saturday), Kenneth Grahame’s quintessentially English tale, combined with Bennett’s understated, acerbic, very British humour, has all the trappings of a first class entertainment.
Mole (played by Trevor Eastes) Rat (Paul Nelson) Toad (Paul Davies) and Hugh Wright in the guise of Mr Badger, travel from one energetic adventure to another capturing the romantic spirit of Edwardian England, and coming face to face with the glamorous, predatory, female weasel population of The Wild Wood, which threatens the order of their bachelor world. Laced with many charming touches from the exuberant supporting cast of rabbits, hedgehogs, mice and squirrels.
Tickets are on sale at Barney’s Newsbox (015394-35627) or at the door.
