THE author, a member of the Society of Friends in Cartmel, follows the history of Quakerism in the area since George Fox, the movement’s founder, came to South Lakeland in 1652.
The book features chapters on the construction of the meeting house, the individuals who have attended over the years and the current state of Quakerism in the area.
It is a detailed and well-written account into Quakerism and its 150-year history in South Lakeland and will appeal mainly to those with a special interest in the subject or in Cartmel’s history.
