The Cavendish Arms is much more than a Lake District hotel.
It is a 450-year-old coaching inn, set in the picturesque village of Cartmel,
with beamed ceilings, a wealth of antique furniture and a blazing log fire. We
serve excellent British food using the finest of local produce, wines and
traditional beers and ales.
With friendly relaxed service and very comfortable rooms,
some with four-poster beds, you will find yourself drifting away into Cartmel’s
perfectly laid-back village way of life. This charming retreat also has a fine
restaurant where you can dine by candlelight. You can relax outside with a
chilled drink or speciality coffee and watch the world go by, or sit beside the
babbling River Eea.
We also have three more new luxury double rooms, with
en-suite bathrooms, right in the centre of the village square above our new
shop, Perfect English. Finished to an exceptionally high standard, the rooms are
furnished with an eclectic mix of sumptuous modern furnishings and antique
furniture. And if you like one of the antiques, you can buy it and take it home
with you!
If you’re walking in the Lake District or simply looking
for a bed and breakfast, the Cavendish Arms offers that personal and special
accommodation. The area is teaming with outdoor activities and we are a stone’s
throw away from the seaside and Morecambe Bay and within easy reach of Coniston
Water and Windermere. We’ve also teamed up with Black Horses Ltd to offer
romantic carriage rides around the village and surrounding countryside.
