I THOUGHT I’d have a ‘lads’ day last Wednesday, so before the Manchester United versus Manchester City match, I went for a curry.
Living and working in Kendal, I’ve seen boards outside the Globe Inn proclaiming ‘Curry and a Quiz for £2 every Wednesday night’, and while the quiz was off the agenda, the curry was most certainly on it.
Only once before have I been to there for a drink, and it was very quiet then as it was last Wednesday, which I can’t understand.
The location couldn’t be more central to Kendal if it tried, and the bar staff are extremely friendly and chatty.
For £2, I wasn’t expecting much to be perfectly honest, but what I did get was a very pleasant surprise, not least for my wallet.
The chicken curry was cooked to perfection, the rice and bread were good, and the curry itself was delicious.
A curry isn’t quite right unless you’ve got a bit of a sweat on (whether that is just my lack of being able to handle spices or not I don’t know) and that was definitely the case at the Globe Inn.
It was straight to-the-point, and for the ludicrously low price of £2, I don’t know how anybody could complain with that.
