This week I will be focusing on Rhone Classic Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe. This southern Rhone is a blend of three grapes grenache, syrah and mourvèdre.
This Chateauneuf du Pape is known for its complexity and elegance, one of the great historical estates of Chateauneuf.
When first poured, the wine seems almost biting with sharp tar, earth and light spice flavours, however, through time the wine increasingly opens up and the texture and balance change. It still has that earthy aftertaste but the wine is more blackcurrant jam and spiced jam. This is a hearty wine and ideal for this time of year.
