As it is the holiday season I thought I would introduce you to a wine to take your tastebuds to Spain even if you are on a staycation.
It is the full-bodied Campo Veijo Tempranillo, produced by a team who have created some of Rioja's best loved wines since 1959.
The rioja ferments in stainless steel with a 12-day skin maceration process, then spends four months in American oak casks before its final ageing in the bottle.
The vibrant cherry red colour matches the nose which has rich red ripe fruit followed by a gentler, sweeter vanilla and warm spiced aromas. This rioja is not light and I would pair with food preferably sausages, duck or possibly pork.
We plumped for the pork belly and chorizo hotpot, not an empty plate of glass in sight. Campo Viejo Rioja is available from Morrisons with a third off priced £5.49 a bottle.
