TONIGHT’S installment of the quirky BBC comedy series The Trip follows Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon as they sit down for dinner at the Michelin starred Holbeck Ghyll in Windermere.
This is the third episode of the popular series in which the pair play Observer food critics on a tour of the north’s top restaurants.
Holbeck Ghyll manager Andrew McPherson said staff were really looking forward to seeing themselves on TV.
“A lot of our staff were filmed serving them food and the owners and their friends are in the background so we’ll all be watching.
"I can’t reveal what they had to eat as it's very much part of the show but I can tell you they had to eat six starters and eight main courses to get the take they wanted - that’s a lot of food!.”
The luxury hotel, ranked 23 in the Good Food Guide is one of the most famous in the Lake District, for its views over Lake Windermere and celebrity guests like Renee Zwelleger and Lionel Richie.
The series is largely improvised with the pair playing ‘loose versions’ of themselves.
“They really are playing themselves, they’re exactly the same on and off camera.
"They are friends but there’s definitely a little bit of tension underneath which is why it's so funny to watch,”
said Mr McPherson.
Last week’s show featured L’Enclume in Cartmel and on November 22 the pair are at Hipping Hall at Kirkby Lonsdale.
Watch The Trip tonight at 10pm on BBC2.
