A new chef is stealing the show at Ulverston restaurant, Rustique. Craig Brown, originally from Millom, started work at the restaurant recently as sous chef. He has previously worked at Clarence House and the Bay Horse in the town and even turned down a job with Gordon Ramsay to stay in Cumbria.
Craig and his partner Alex now live in Swarthmoor with their two children Matthew, seven, and Natasha, two. The move to Rustique enables him to spend more time with his family, as Jason and Alison Bright, owners of Rustique, have agreed a flexible working arrangement. This enables Craig to spend quality time with his children, a rare commodity for any chef.
Craig's talents are certainly impressing the regular customers at Rustique. His signature dish is an iced prune & praline parfait. His love of desserts comes from his training days at Lancaster and Morecambe College and tutelage from some of the best chefs in the Lake District.
Outside work, Craig enjoys fishing and eats out quite often comparing what he offers with that of other local restaurants.
