ACCOLADES have been raining down on Cartmel recently.
Aynsome Manor has been voted a Country House Comforts winner in The Which? Guide to Good Hotels 2005 awards.
While Uplands Hotel and Restaurant, and L'Enclume The Restaurant with Rooms, have made it into the BBC's Olive magazine Top 100 UK restaurants.
White Moss House, at Grasmere, has also won a place in Olive's Top 100, as has Sharrow Bay, at Ullswater.
A further honour for White Moss House proprietors' Sue and Peter Dixon has been winning a place in the AA's Top 200 Hotel list for the third year running.
"Being so small, and owner-run, we are a 1 Red Star Hotel," explained Sue. "Only eight 1 Red Star hotels in the UK made the Top 200 Hotels this year. This puts us in a select group of hotels considered by the AA as premier places to stay."
