THE Beach Hut Gallery Artists Cooperative celebrates its tenth anniversary with a fantastic Winter Exhibition featuring work by artists who have supported and enhanced the gallery down the years. Works on show include paintings, drawings, ceramics, woodwork, willow weaving, glasswork, jewellery and poetry.
The Beach Hut started back in 2008 when founder members Beverley White, Judy Evans and other members of the Witherslack Artists and Makers Group got together to explore the possibility of setting up an artists' cooperative based at Kents Bank Station, near Grange-over-Sands. Planning began and after incorporating as a co-operative a refit and redecoration was undertaken by the artists themselves. Donations from Northern Rail, the Cooperative Society and the generosity of local people enabled the gallery to open its doors in November 2009.
The gallery is managed by six directors: Beverley White, Judy Evans, Martin Copley, Laura Pendlebury, Fran Brown, and Sally Toms with associate members Susan Pettman and Clyde Olliver.
The Beach Hut Gallery is open Thursday to Sunday and bank holidays, from 10.30pm-4pm
