NETHERFIELD handed out a 97-run defeat to 3-D Sports Northern Cricket League leaders Blackpool in a terrific performance at Parkside Road on Saturday.
The home team piled up 200-7 off their 50 overs with Craig Walmsley (46), Simon Little (33), professional Callum Ferguson (46) all in the runs and good knocks down the order from Ben Haddrick (20) and Chris Miller (30).
Blackpool's professional Sajeewah Werrakoon took four wickets, but at a cost of 95 runs.
In reply, Blackpool were all out for 103 in 33.3 overs as Ferguson knocked off the top order with 5-42 and then leg-spinner Marc Hadwin swept aside the tail in amazing fashion, taking the last four wickets for no runs in just 3.3 overs.
Meanwhile, Kendal were back on form with the bat, but had to be content with as winning draw at St Annes.
Kendal made 193-8 with Gareth Ashburner (69) and Terry Hunte (61) making the bulk of the runs, with Z. Patel taking 3-51.
However, St Annes hung on to deny Kendal an outright win at 125-9 with Russ Bradley unbeaten on 33, while McMillan took 5-30 and Ben Simm 3-30.
Blackpool's lead at the top was cut to three points ahead of Kendal. The points at the top of the table are: Blackpool (184), Kendal (181), Morecambe (180), Netherfield (174) - in what is a four-horse race for the title.

No, on this occasion I was in London and submitted the cartoon by email.
